This kid’s artistic expression is too good. Lime This kid’s artistic expression is too good. Lime green shoes, short shorts, clear frames, and a headband? I’m here for it. But what I love more is my happy, confident boy dancing his hiney off in front of the mirror with no worries. That’s what I dig. “A little bit of confidence can make the simplest of t-shirts look like a million bucks.” —Dan Levy

Another January sunrise. This was painted on very Another January sunrise. This was painted on very special paper that I’ve been holding onto. When we purchased our cottage by the lighthouse, we discovered the former owner was also a painter. She left behind beautiful studies of the neighborhood, portraits, paintbrushes, and a few sketchbooks possibly dating back to the 60’s or 70’s. I love the antiquated, stained, textured paper. If you look really closely in the process video, you’ll be able to see a face. Although she didn’t work on this piece of paper, the pages of the sketchbook must’ve been pressed together for so long, one of her drawings rubbed off on this page. Next time I’m at the studio, I’ll show you guys a few of her pieces that are hanging above my desk. Pretty cool to think we both lived in the same house and found inspiration from the same neighborhood.

45 minute oil study from last Friday night (I’m 45 minute oil study from last Friday night (I’m gettin’ real wild these days 😉 ...actually, looking back, I’ve always turned down social opportunities to paint—not much has changed there). Anyway. This piece was inspired by our cute little lemon tree we have in the front yard.
