Stripes and Buns is a series of oil paintings, illustrations, and fine art photography based on the quote, “Here’s to good women—may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.” Jenna opened her studio door to over 200 women of Northeast Florida, all wearing stripes (mandatory) and buns (optional), to be photographed for this collection. The oil paintings feature women, girls, mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends of all shapes, sizes, colors, and ages. Heavily influenced by pop artist, Wayne Thiebaud, Jenna’s paintings are simple with a flat gray background so the emphasis is on the subject. She includes pops of bright cerulean blue, dioxazine purple, and cadmium red in the shadows and pieces of hair. Jenna’s hope with this series is to inspire and empower women to cultivate goodness.
